In Ireland, former Taoiseach(prime Minister) and former President, Eamonn de Valera, curated the use of radio to advance his ideologies of Cultural Nationalism and Neutrality. His ‘fireside chats’,- very much reminiscent of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s comforting of a nation during the Second World War- were used throughout de Valera’s time in power to promote nationality and defend against colonalism.
